The International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia is observed on May 17, with the purpose of coordinating international events to raise awareness of LGBT rights violations and encourage interest in LGBT rights to work worldwide.

Until now, there have been commemorations in over 130 countries.

Despite advances, consensual same-sex partnerships remain banned in roughly 70 countries.

A total of ₹450 crore has been earmarked to provide incentive to farmers for promotion of the less water consuming and cost-effective DSR technique.
