India & ITU Sign Host Country Agreement.

  • The Union Minister of Communications and Secretary General of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) signed the Host Country Agreement (HCA) for the establishment of an Area Office & Innovation Centre of ITU in New Delhi.
  • The 5Gi standards developed within India have now been recognised by ITU as one of the three technologies for 5G.
  • 5Gi is a locally designed telecommunication network that has been designed by IITHyderabad.
  • The Host Country Agreement provides the legal and financial framework for establishment and operations of the Area Office.
  • The Area Office and Innovation Centre of ITU at New Delhi is expected to serve South Asian countries namely Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Iran, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka and India.

Coal Ministry To Celebrate “Iconic Week” Under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav From 7th March, 2022.

  • To celebrate and commemorate the 75 years of Independence and as India enters into the Amrit Kaal, Ministry of Coal is organizing special events and programmes throughout the country from 7th to 11th March, 2022, as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ Iconic Week celebrations.

Ministry of Culture in collaboration with Sulabh International organized “Swacchagraha: celebrating Swachhta and Swadhinta”

  • Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in collaboration with Sulabh International organized an event “Swacchagraha” under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to encourage the mass awareness with the core thought of “Swachhta, Swadhinta and Sulabh” on 5th March in New Delhi.
  • In his speech OSD, Ministry of culture,RatneshJha said that Ministry of Culture is trying to link cleanliness drive by Sulabh with Azadika Amrit Mahotsav. He also said that Sulabh is the best example of two pillars of AKAM – Action@75 and Resolve@75.

Jharkhand Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon Presents Budget For FY 2022-23

  • Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led coalition government in Jharkhand presented a budget of Rs 1.01 lakh crore for the Financial Year 2022-23.
  • The budget also proposed a massive 59 percent jump in capital expenditure to Rs 24,827.70 crore.
  • Revenue expenditure is pegged at Rs 76,273.30 crore.
  • A fiscal deficit of Rs 11,286.47 crore, is estimated to be 81 per cent of the gross state domestic product (GSDP) of the next fiscal.

Proposal In The Budget 2022-23 :

  • The Guruji Credit Card Scheme will be launched to remove hurdles faced by Jharkhand students in higher education.
  • To reduce the burden of electricity on poors and farmers, a proposal to give 100 units of electricity per month to each such household free of cost
  • Rs 50,000 per house will be available for the construction of an additional room from the state fund.
  • The government has announced an additional provision of Rs 600 crore under the state scheme for the upcoming year 2022-23 under the honorarium of these teachers.
  • In the health sector, the government has increased the amount by 27%, drinking water by 20%, education by 6.5%, and agriculture by 21%.
  • The government has proposed a budget of Rs 4,091.37 crore in the agriculture and allied sector.
  • So far 836 crores have been transferred to the accounts of 2,11,530 farmers under the farm loan waiver scheme.
  • Under the Go-Dhan Nyay Yojana, cow dung will be procured at reasonable prices for the purpose of increasing the income of cattle owners and farmers & this will be used to produce biogas as well as organic manure.
  • A corpus of Rs 25 crore has been proposed in the fund to compensate for the economic losses in agricultural production.
  • The budget also proposed creation of 5 crore man-days in the next fiscal under MNREGA.

Contribution of YouTube Creators to Indian GDP

  • YouTube unveiled a new report today by Oxford Economics, an independent consulting firm, that showed that YouTube’s creator ecosystem contributed Rs 6,800 crore to the Indian GDP in 2020.
  • YouTube also supported 6,83,900 full-time equivalent jobs in India in the same year, as per the report.
  • With the number of channels in India with over 1,00,000 subscribers now reportedly standing at 40,000, marking a growth of over 45%, year on year, more Indian YouTube creators are finding opportunities and audiences on the platform.

MoU signed to promote Start-up in latest Daylight Harvesting Technology

  • Technology Development Board (TDB), a statutory body of the Department of Science & Technology, has entered into an agreement with a Skyshade Daylights Private Limited for developing new technologies for harvesting daylight as part of its endeavors to promote the reduction of carbon footprint and improve building energy efficiency.
  • The TDB signed the MoU in the presence of Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology Dr Jitendra Singh.
  • The TDB will give Rs 5 Crore of the 10 Crore project to Skyshade company for developing new technologies for basement illumination on a 24×7 basis.

Additional Info :

  • The solar energy spectrum has 45% energy as visible light and this can be used to harvest building illumination for about 9-11 hours a day.
  • India has set an ambitious target to achieve a capacity of 175 GW of its energy requirement from renewable energy sources by the end of 2022, and committed to achieve 500 GW by 2030 as stated by the Prime Minister at the COP26 summit in Glasgow.

Indian Navy successfully test fires advanced version of BrahMos missile

  • On March 05, 2022, The Indian Navy successfully demonstrated the accuracy of an extended-range land attack Brahmos supersonic cruise missile from the stealth destroyer INS Chennai.

Purpose :

  • The missile hit its intended target with pinpoint accuracy after traversing an extended range trajectory and performing complex maneuvers.

About BrahMos :

  • The BrahMos is a supersonic cruise missile manufactured by an Indo-Russian joint venture.
  • BrahMos missile flies at a speed of 2.8 Mach or almost three times the speed of sound.
  • The range of the advanced version of the missile is learnt to have been extended to around 350 km from the original 290 km.

Additional Info :

  • In November 2020, India tested a land-attack version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
  • In December 2021, the air version of the BrahMos missile was tested when it was fired by supersonic fighter aircraft Sukhoi 30 MK-I& the test was carried out from the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha.

Mobile World Congress ’22 starts in Spain with focus on 5G and economic recovery

  • According to findings of the Global Mobile Economy Report shown at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) which began in Barcelona, Spain, the total number of 5G connections globally is expected to reach 1 billion in 2022 driving further momentum into 5G adoption.
  • In 2021, mobile technologies and services generated $4.5 trillion of economic value, equating to 5% of global GDP.
  • The global telecom industry will invest $600 billion from now till 2025 in mobile capex and 85% of it will be on 5G.

A colossal figure’: Australian cricket great Rod Marsh dies at 74.

  • Rod Marsh was remembered as “a colossal figure” in Australian cricket who gave close to 50 years’ service to the sport as tributes poured in after he died following a heart attack at a charity event.
  • The 74-year-old Marsh, played 96 Tests and was later a long-time national selector.

IUML supremo Hyder Ali Shihab Thangal passes away in Ernakulam.

  • Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) supremo Sayyid Hyder Ali Shihab Thangal passed away on Sunday, March 6.
  • He died at a private hospital in Ernakulam district’s Angamaly.
  • The 74-year-old leader was the president of IUML in Kerala for 12 years.
  • He was also the Managing Director of Chandrika daily.
  • Hyder Ali Shihab Thangal, who is known as Panakkad Hyder Ali Thangal, had been the district president of IUML Malappuram for about 18 years.
